Scooter Rider Facing DUI Charge

November 15th, 2007 · No Comments

A disabled Georgia man that is confined to a scooter faces DUI charges after police ticketed him for driving his scooter on the wrong side of the road.

Bob Pruett, the diasbled individual that was driving the scooter, has a defense case resting on the distinction that his scooter is a wheelchair and not a vehicle. He claims that the worst he should have gotten is a charge of public intoxication and not driving under the influence.

Pruett was stopped by police for driving his scooter on the wrong side of the road. He is a victim of cerebral palsy and has no use of his legs. When he was stopped, his blood alcohol level was .125 and he had a 12-pack of beer in the basket on his scooter. His lawyer claims that wheelchairs were not intended to be included under Georgia’s motor vehicle code.
